On Tuesday, October 25th, 2016, a reception celebrating the 61st anniversary of the Austrian Independence was hosted by Austrian Ambassador Klaus Wölfer and his wife Diane Wölfer at the Swissotel in Ankara. Among the guests were many members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Ankara and representatives of business associations. In his speech, Ambassador Klaus Wölfer highlighted the strong economic ties between Austria and Turkey. He also condemned the coup attempt on July 15th and emphasized that the walls of the embassy were shaking that night and tanks were destroying cars in front of the embassy. The performance of St. George's Austrian High School Chore from Istanbul received great appreciation from the nearly 800 guests.
