The South African Embassy in Ankara will be hosting the Freedom Month commemorations from 24-27 April 2017 with a series of planned events. <br>The event is in celebration of South Africa’s 23rd year of democratic rule since the first democratic elections were held in 1994 to mark the birth of freedom from Apartheid and democracy in South Africa. South Africa will also be marking the centenary of freedom struggle icon, Oliver Reginald Tambo.<br>The commemorations will start with the visit of the Mayor of Ekurhuleni, the Honorable Mzwandile Charles Masina, who will be on a working visit to Bursa Turkey with members of Ekurhuleni Municipality and a business delegation. Events in Bursa include a signing of a Letter of Intent regarding cooperation between the Ekurhuleni and Bursa, an economic seminar, B2B meetings and visits to companies in Bursa.<br>The First South African Golf Tournament in Turkey at the Ankara Golf Club will take place on 26 April 2017 with participant golfers from both South Africa and Turkey. A number of prizes, including invitations to the BMW Pro-Am tournament in South Africa will be available for the first 6 placed men and first 2 placed women.<br>A Media Breakfast hosted by Ambassador Pule I Malefane will take place on 27 April, as well as an economic seminar in Ankara, B2B meetings and an evening reception with a guest of honour from the Turkish government.
